About a year ago, me and a friend from college used to spend our afternoons in Debenhams, wandering around the MAC concession lusting after all the expensive goodies. One time, one of the MAC make up artists offered us some free samples of the foundation - to which we were super happy to accept, and thereafter kept returning to pick up more free samples instead of actually forking out ridiculous amounts of money on the product itself (the not-perks of being a skint student).
When I first tried out this product, I absolutely loved it, as did my mum whom I'd also picked up a sample for, and I vowed to part with almost 30 quid for the pleasure of a whole bottle of the stuff - I'M GLAD I DIDN'T.
For the weeks that I was using the free MAC samples, I found that my skin was incessantly breaking out in spots and blemishes, yet I didn't actually put 2 and 2 together until I ran out of another sample, and went a week or two without wearing MAC, reverting back to my usual trusted Maybelline, and my skin cleared up almost instantly. It was only then that I realised the culprit of my bad skin was the foundation I was using, and my mum was the same. We both stopped using the samples, threw them in the bin, and our skin was absolutely fine.
Now of course that could just be a reaction to my skin, and I appreciate that everyone's skin reacts differently to different products, but I also found that this product (as flawless and Photoshopped a complexion it does give) was very, very heavy, and felt like it was caked on (even though I was only using a very small amount).
So if you're looking for a foundation that makes you look like a photoshopped Cosmopolitan cover girl, this is the foundation for you - if you don't mind the possibility of clogged pores and spots, but if you're looking for something a little lighter, more natural and all round more healthy for your skin, I'd give this one a miss, it's not worth 30 quid to weigh down your skin was cakey foundation.
My product rating - 5.5/10
